Earthy Nullarbor Plain Yarn Dyeing Colourway recipe using Landscape acid dyes. I remember driving with my sister in my our old Toyota Corolla across this vast open expanse of desert except the dirt, grass, dingos, the wind and hot sun behind us. I wanted to make a colourway that expressed this unforgettable experience. This is a gorgeous and easy colourway that is perfect for learning to use Landscape Dyes. It's a great starting point for making your own colourways. Experiment with doubling the amounts to create different and deeper colourways. Halve the amounts to make a new natural pastel colourway. Add different speckles of colour to make it your own. There is so much you can do to get started making various colourways from a starting point with the recipe amounts ready to go.

SCREEN COLOUR

The colours according to the recipes were mixed, recorded and then tested on 1g of white wool yarn. Screen colour photo to actual yarn sample varies. I recommend dyeing small samples of each colour and attaching them to the printed file, storing you're recipes in a binder, away from sunlight.

ABOUT

As a graphic designer turned fibre artist and with background in colour theory, I have always loved colour and absolutely love mixing dyes. You can experiment by over dyeing white, grey and other shades of natural yarn. Colours can appear different on different fibre types. For example, I have found the colours to appear more vibrant on bright white Mohair yarn, deeper on Merino 4ply and less vibrant on uncombed wool roving.
