Black Friday Six-Step Colourway: Midnight Sale!
I wanted to experiment with a black dye overlay using the most intense Dharma primary colours and decided Black Friday would be the perfect opportunity to jump on the trend wagon. So here you have it! Dharmas deepest black spewed out over a rainbow of three gorgeous blended hues. I hope this will inspire within you a world of colour and how you can use black dyes in your fibre art projects.
Midnight Sale! Tips:
The 'Midnight Sale!' colourway requires a deep depth in shade. This means, it will require a high slow heat, more dye, more acid, water and patience. Due to factors like dye concentration, water temperature, and heat distribution, it took me at least an hour to fully exhaust all the colour into two 100g skeins of yarn using my induction cooktop.
First allow all the rainbow colours to set. Once there is no colour bleeding, it's time to add your black overlay. You can get creative with this! You can add your black overlay however you like. I added most of my black dye to only the edges of each skein. I allowed it o set this way. Once it was set, I added the rest of the black dye to the middle of the yarn. This way, some parts have a deeper depth, while other parts maintain some vibrancy.
